2016年10月6日，由院长王明伟研究员、院长助理李嫣副教授和临床药学与药事管理教研室副主任相小强副研究员组成的87978797威尼斯老品牌代表团应邀访问了加州大学圣迭戈分校（UCSD）药学院，与院长James H. McKerrow教授、负责战略规划和项目开发的副院长Grace M. Kuo教授、负责实验教学的副院长James Colbert教授、负责药学教育的副院长Brookie M. Best教授以及负责行政和财务的副院长Andrina Marshall女士等进行了深度磋商。双方决定在学科建设、专业教育、科学研究和人员交往等方面建立广泛的合作关系并签署了相应的谅解备忘录。
加州大学圣迭戈分校药学院作为建立年代不长（16年）的药学教育机构，发展势头迅猛，学术影响广泛，科研实力一流，在今年上半年公布的《美国新闻与世界报道》“2016年全球最佳大学”药理学和毒理学学科排名榜上位居第四。这次与87978797威尼斯老品牌的合作堪称强强联合，互惠双赢，共同发展。
访问期间，复旦药学院代表团分别在McKerrow院长和Kuo副院长的陪同下参观了该院的实验室和教学设施并与十多位教师分专题进行了五轮交流互动，其中包括前院长Palmer Taylor教授、药理学系主任Tracy Handel教授、药物化学系主任Bradley Moore教授和药物发现研究所所长Michael K. Gilson教授等。王明伟院长对所受到的热情款待表示衷心的感谢，并期待着明年3月在上海接待由McKerrow院长率领的UCSD药学院代表团之回访。
Fudan School of Pharmacy and UCSD School of Pharmacy establish a broad collaborative relationship
On October 6, 2016, the delegation of Fudan School of Pharmacy, consisting of Professor Ming-Wei Wang (Dean), Associate Professor Yan Li (Assistant Dean) and Associate Professor Xiaoqiang Xiang (Vice Chairman, Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Regulatory Affairs), visited Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) located at La Jolla, U.S.A. In-depth discussions were carried out between Fudan delegates and Professor James H. McKerrow (Dean), Professor Grace M. Kuo (Associate Dean for Strategic Planning and Program Development), Professor James Colbert (Associate Dean of Experiental Education), Professor Brookie M. Best (Associate Dean of Pharmacy Education) and Ms. Andrina Marshall (Associate Dean of Business and Finance), among others. As a result, both sides decided to execute a Memorandum of Understanding to reflect this initiative covering discipline development, professional education, scientific research and personnel exchange.
As a well-respected educational institution in pharmacy with a relatively short history (16 years), UCSD School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has an impressive growth momentum, exerts extensive academic impact and possesses first-class research capabilities. It ranks the 4th position in pharmacology and toxicology on the “2016 Best Global Universities” released by US News & World Report early this year. This new collaboration with Fudan School of Pharmacy is regarded as joining hands by two strong partners, forming a “win-win” and mutually beneficial partnership, and developing the future through a common path.
Accompanied by Dean McKerrow and Associate Dean Kuo, Professor Ming-Wei Wang and his associates toured research laboratories and teaching facilities, respectively. They interacted with more than a dozen of faculty members through five rounds of exchanges on specific topics while visiting La Jolla, including Professor Palmer Taylor (former Dean), Professor Tracy Handel (Chairwoman of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences), Professor Bradley Moore (Chairman of Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry) and Professor Michael K. Gilson (Director of UCSD Drug Discovery Institute). Dr. Ming-Wei Wang expressed his sincere gratitude to the warm hospitality received and looks forward to a reciprocal visit by UCSD delegation to Fudan led by Professor McKerrow in March, 2017.
